Cloud computing is the access and use of various resources such as software programs, services and storage located on the internet as opposed to your local computer.  Cloud computing has grown in popularity in recent years because:

  1. It provides a centralized online point of access across multiple devices (PC, laptop, tablet, phone etc.) for multiple users.
  2. Users only pay for services used on remotely managed cloud servers, avoiding the high cost of purchasing and maintaining additional computer hardware/systems.
  3. Also, as organizations utilizing cloud computing grow, cloud resources can be added on demand to meet growing infrastructure needs (scalable).
