Latest Windows 11 26H2 Build Improves Your PC’s Performance
Microsoft released it’s latest feature update, Windows 11 26H2 on September 29th, 2026. Typically Microsoft releases a feature update, which is an updated version of Windows twice per year, the number 26 represents the current year and H2 represents the second half of the year.
While the appearance of this latest version is essentially the same with very minor new features added, the biggest improvement it made is being more memory efficient and running faster and more smoothly on your PC. Windows 11 PCs with 8GB of RAM were found to be up to 20% more responsive and 40% faster at multitasking in a lab test according to Microsoft Executive Vice President of Windows + Devices Pavan Davuluri.
When ready for your PC, Windows 11 26H2 will be available through the standard Windows update service, and you may see a notification in the right hand corner by the clock that it is ready to be installed. Otherwise you can check availability by clicking on the Windows 4 square start button on the taskbar > Settings (gear icon) > Windows Update > and click on “Check For Updates”. If it is ready for your device a banner or option reading ‘Windows 11, 26H2’ with a download and install button will appear. To check and see if perhaps you already have this latest feature update installed, right click on the Windows 4 square start button on the task bar > left click ‘System’ > scroll down to ‘Windows info’ and check the Version.
The vast majority of users have reported no problems installing the update. To learn more about the new operational features added to this version of Windows 11, check out the following article by windowscentral.com.
